Are you interested in delving further into health, wellness and nutrition, but don’t know where to start?

After working in law for a few years, I started to wish that I’d studied nutrition instead. Something so integral to our health and happiness seemed far more interesting and something that we really all should know!

Going back to school full time was not an option for me in my early 30s so I started researching what else I could do to re-engage my brain, obtain a new qualification and open new doors. Reading the “About Me” pages of the healthy recipe creators, bloggers and authors I followed, one name kept coming up again and again: the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN).

What is IIN?

IIN is the world’s largest online nutrition school which lets you study flexibly, in your own time and on your own schedule. There are IIN students and alumni all over the world who are published authors, successful health coaches, business owners, wellness bloggers and retreat hosts. Some of the IIN alumni I follow include Laura Agar Wilson, Madeleine Shaw, Sahara Rose and Mrs Hollingsworth.

Studying at IIN isn’t just about becoming a health coach. While studying and deepening your knowledge of nutrition, you start to work on the areas of your life that feel out of balance, beyond the food on your plate. The course covers everything from finances, spirituality, healthy relationships to cultivating joy in your life. As a student and graduate, you’re encouraged to constantly check-in on all areas of your life, noting where there are imbalances and taking positive steps towards remedying them. It’s helped me to really think about how I want my life to look, and to take steps to get there.

Is IIN right for me?

If you’re already the person that your friends come to for advice, then studying with IIN might be your next step towards a side hustle or a whole new career.

IIN is entirely online so you can fit it around your schedule. You can study from your laptop or phone anywhere in the world. I listened to lectures in cafes, at home, or downloaded them for long plane journeys.  You can chose to either study for a year, or take an accelerated six-month program, depending on how much time you have each week.

Unlike some of the online courses I looked into, IIN helps you connect with fellow students via a Facebook group (I’ve made some new friends in Dubai via it), encourages you to pick your own accountability coach and there are six live coaching calls with the same small group of students. You pick a time for these to fit around your schedule. You’re able to study at your own pace but feel connected to the school and other students.

You’ll learn about nutrition, healthy cooking, emotional eating, hormone balance, gut health and why “diets” don’t work. Guest teachers include Arianna Huffington, Gabrielle Bernstein and Deepak Chopra. Even if you already think you know a lot about health, you’ll definitely come away from each module with a new fact, perspective or activity to try out. There’s also business and coaching skills woven in to the curriculum, so you’ll have a clear idea of your next steps rather than feeling like you just swallowed a nutrition text book.

Ok, I think I want know more…

If you’d like to find out more or have any questions about studying with IIN then please get in touch! I’d love to have a chat about the course to help you decide if it’s right for you, and to answer any questions.  I blogged in detail about my first six months with IIN, and my thoughts after graduating which delve deeper into the student experience and what to expect.

As an IIN Ambassador, I’m able to offer a 15% discount on course fees  if you mention me when signing up.
